FAQ about Chemical Peels:

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is an esthetic procedure that utilizes chemical solutions, like alpha-hydroxy or glycolic acids, to penetrate the outer layer of the skin and gently exfoliate.

First, your esthetician will discuss your skin with you to determine what type of peel will be best.

Next, she will prep the skin with a thorough cleansing.

After your esthetician applies the peel evenly over your skin, she will watch carefully for when to remove. Depending on the peel, you may feel warm heat or slight discomfort while it is on.

When the peel has been removed, your esthetician will apply appropriate serums or moisturizers and give instructions for post-care.

How often should I get a Chemical Peel?

For the best results, recurring maintenance is recommended. Your esthetician will tell you how often you can schedule. Usually, you can get a chemical peel every 4-6 weeks.

When will I see results?

You will see results once your skin has healed. You will notice smoother, more glowing skin, and a reduction in pigmentation and fine lines. More substantial results will come after a series of peels.

Your healing time all depends on the aggressiveness of the peel and your skin. You may experience light to heavy peeling or what feels a bit like a sunburn. Healing time is usually about 3-7 days.

It is important you follow your estheticians post-care instructions and use the products they recommend for proper healing.
